Cheap Web Hosting 2026

By Keith, Editor · Updated September 24, 2026

Cheap web hosting in 2026 is the host you can still pay, still reach, and still load a normal WordPress site on after the intro tile expires. This page ranks that kind of value. The absolute lowest intro sticker, with less weight on support and the speed stack, is cheapest web hosting that still works. The cluster hub is Best Web Hosting 2026. The two-host matchup is Bluehost vs Hostinger.

Quick verdict: Hostinger is the best cheap starter that still works (editorial 4.5). Bluehost is the cheap cPanel path (editorial 4.0). SiteGround is the step-up when a cheap shared renewal is the wrong bill — StartUp renews at $17.99/mo, and this page does not score it. Commission does not set that order. Hostinger’s button opens the public pricing page. There is no Hostinger commission link on this site.

Intro rates are the monthly figure on a prepaid term. Hostinger’s cheap sticker is 48 months paid up front. Bluehost’s logged sticker is 36 months. SiteGround’s is 12 months, and the tile we loaded excluded VAT. “Unlimited” websites are fair-use. Last verified: September 24, 2026.

How we ranked cheap hosting

Cheap, on this page, means a renewal you can read before you click, a support channel a first-time owner can use, and a performance stack the vendor actually publishes. The lowest intro tile alone is the job of cheapest web hosting that still works. Research here is from public plan pages. This page has no GTmetrix export, no private uptime log, and no timed support test.

Hostinger stays first because Premium’s renewal at $10.99/mo sits under SiteGround StartUp, and because the editorial score is already 4.5 on the Hostinger review and on Bluehost vs Hostinger. Bluehost stays second for cPanel, at 4.0, even where the logged Starter renewal is a dollar under Premium. SiteGround’s live hop does not buy a score. WordPress-specific tooling lives on best WordPress hosting.

1. Hostinger — best cheap starter that still works

Hostinger Premium is the default on this list: $2.99/mo when you prepay 48 months, renewing at $10.99/mo. Checked September 24, 2026 on the public pricing page. That tile is three websites, 20 GB SSD, weekly backups, a free domain for one year, and priority 24/7 expert support. The same page does not list a phone line.

Unlimited is the step up inside the cheap range: $3.99/mo intro, renewing at $16.99/mo, with 50 GB NVMe and daily backups. Most first sites can start on Premium. A site you would hate to restore from last week belongs on Unlimited. Cloud Startup at $7.99/mo intro, renewing at $25.99/mo, is the same vendor’s larger box. It is not required to call Hostinger cheap.

Speed, as far as this page will go: Hostinger’s managed WordPress page describes LiteSpeed. We have not timed it. hPanel is the reason a first owner can click through without a cPanel tutorial. The score is our editorial grade for that price and that panel, the same 4.5 as the review. It is not an average of user reviews.

Cons. The $2.99 sticker is a 48-month prepay. A shorter term shows a worse monthly rate. Renewal at $10.99/mo is still more than triple the intro. Premium backups are weekly, storage is SSD, and the site cap is three. Free mailboxes on the tile are for a year. There is no phone line on the plans we checked. If your contractor will only work in cPanel, this is the wrong first click.

The product write-up is Hostinger Review 2026. The sticker-only cut is cheapest web hosting.

2. Bluehost — cheap cPanel path

Bluehost is the cheap pick when the panel has to be cPanel. On the August 28, 2026 public shared-hosting stamp, Starter is $3.99/mo for 36 months, renewing at $9.99/mo: 10 websites, 10 GB NVMe, weekly backups, chat support. On September 24, 2026 the live Bluehost page returned a bot challenge, so treat every Bluehost dollar in this article as approximate until you open the cart.

Phone support is the feature people mean when they type Bluehost, and it is not on Starter. Business is $6.99/mo intro, renewing at $13.99/mo, with chat and phone. That pair is the same approximate stamp. Buy Starter for a small brochure and a contractor who lives in cPanel. Buy Business if you came for a person on the phone. A shop that needs the phone should also read best web hosting for small business.

Cons. Editorial score 4.0, matching Bluehost vs Hostinger, because the cheap tile is a familiar cPanel installer rather than Hostinger’s LiteSpeed default. The logged Starter renewal undercuts Premium by a dollar and still does not take first place. Backups on the logged Starter row are weekly. The intro is a 36-month prepay. We could not re-read the plan grid on September 24, 2026. Starter remains the chat plan in the research this cluster already published.

3. SiteGround — when cheap shared is the wrong bill

SiteGround is on this list as the honest exit from cheap shared, not as a third cheap winner. On the web hosting page checked September 24, 2026, StartUp is $2.99/mo prepaid for 12 months, renewing at $17.99/mo. The intro matches Hostinger Premium. The renewal does not. The tile is one website, 10 GB of Premium Google storage, and daily backups, with VAT excluded on the price we loaded. Staging is not in the StartUp feature list. It is listed on GrowBig.

GrowBig is $4.99/mo on the same 12-month prepay, renewing at $29.99/mo, with 50 GB, on-demand backups, staging, and a 30% faster PHP line on that tile. That is the SiteGround plan people mean when they want the tooling. It is also $29.99/mo after the year. Support is advertised as 24/7 expert human support. That is their claim. We have not timed a ticket. They describe Google Cloud, a free CDN, and multi-level caching. We have not measured those either.

Cons. This page does not give SiteGround an editorial score. StartUp’s $17.99/mo renewal already sits above Hostinger Premium and the logged Bluehost Starter rate, so a page about cheap hosting has to say the quiet part: SiteGround is not the cheap ongoing bill. One site and no staging on StartUp is a hard stop if you need a second install or a safe copy. The intro lasts 12 months. A live affiliate hop does not move this host above Hostinger. If the decision is WordPress staging and automatic updates in more detail, use best WordPress hosting.

What cheap hosting hides

Renewal traps

The $2.99, $3.99, and $2.99 tiles are ads tied to term length. Hostinger collects 48 months up front. The logged Bluehost term is 36 months. SiteGround collects 12, then jumps to $17.99/mo on StartUp. Put the renewal date on a calendar before you compare stickers. A host that wins month one and loses year two does not win a cheap-hosting budget.

Term length is part of the price. $2.99/mo on Hostinger Premium is the prepaid total divided by 48. It is not a month-to-month bill. If cash this week matters more than the sticker, buy the shorter term and expect a higher monthly rate.

Support, backups, and the second year

Cheap plans hide the channel. Hostinger’s pricing tile lists priority 24/7 support and does not list a phone number. Bluehost Starter, on the stamp this cluster already uses, is chat. Phone is Business. SiteGround advertises 24/7 expert support on every plan and does not publish a response time this page will repeat as fact.

Backups hide in the same way. Weekly on Hostinger Premium means six days of edits can vanish. Daily on SiteGround StartUp is a real difference, and you pay for it at renewal. The free domain and the free mailboxes are year one on the Hostinger tile. Year two is a separate invoice. Add-ons checked by default in the cart are extra. Uncheck what you do not need.

Speed claims

Hostinger points at LiteSpeed. Bluehost’s logged cheap plan points at NVMe. SiteGround points at Google Cloud, a CDN, and caching. Read those as product descriptions. A heavy theme is slow on all three. A shared box still shares a box. A large WooCommerce catalog is the moment to leave the cheap tile, which is the SiteGround section above and Hostinger Cloud Startup on the same public list. We did not run a speed test for this article.

Who should skip which host

  • Skip Hostinger if your contractor will only work in cPanel, or if you want a phone agent. Skip Premium if weekly backups are too thin. Unlimited is the daily-backup step on the same vendor.
  • Skip Bluehost Starter if you came for phone support. Budget Business, and remember the dollar figures are approximate until the cart loads. Skip Bluehost if you do not need cPanel and you are comparing renewals with Hostinger.
  • Skip SiteGround if the goal is the lower ongoing bill. StartUp renews at $17.99/mo. Skip StartUp on its own if you need staging or a second site. GrowBig is the tooling tile, at $29.99/mo after the intro year.
  • Skip all three for a regulated workload this site does not advise on. These shared plans are a brochure site, a local lead page, or a small catalog.

The lowest intro sticker, scored the same way, is cheapest web hosting that still works. WordPress staging and updates are on best WordPress hosting. The head-to-head is Bluehost vs Hostinger.

Cheap web hosting FAQ

What is cheap web hosting in 2026?

Hostinger Premium, for a first site that still needs to work after the intro. Editorial score 4.5. Bluehost Starter is the cheap cPanel path, score 4.0, with dollar figures from the August 28, 2026 stamp because the September 24, 2026 page load hit a bot challenge. SiteGround StartUp renews at $17.99/mo, so it is the reliability step-up. The hub is Best Web Hosting 2026.

How is this different from cheapest web hosting?

Cheapest web hosting is the lowest intro sticker that still works. This page adds the renewal, the support channel, and the speed stack the vendor publishes. Hostinger leads both. The order is editorial.

Is SiteGround cheap web hosting?

StartUp is $2.99/mo for 12 months and renews at $17.99/mo. GrowBig is $4.99/mo intro and renews at $29.99/mo. The intro can look cheap. The renewal is a higher bill than Hostinger Premium. We have not scored SiteGround.

Is Hostinger still cheap after renewal?

Premium renews at $10.99/mo after a 48-month prepay. That is more than triple the $2.99 intro, and it is still under SiteGround StartUp’s renewal. See the Hostinger review for the product case.

Does the cheap intro price last?

No. Hostinger’s cheap sticker is 48 months, then $10.99/mo. The logged Bluehost sticker is 36 months, then $9.99/mo, and that pair is approximate as of September 24, 2026. SiteGround StartUp is 12 months, then $17.99/mo. Last verified: September 24, 2026.

Does commission change this ranking?

No. See Hostinger plans opens the public pricing page. Bluehost and SiteGround hops can earn a commission. Neither hop moves Hostinger off the top spot. The matchup is Bluehost vs Hostinger.
