Affordable Web Hosting 2026

By Keith, Editor · Updated September 25, 2026

Affordable web hosting in 2026 is what you pay if the site is still up in a year or two. It is not the lowest number on a banner. The lowest intro sticker that still works is a different page. Reliable cheap hosting, with support and the published speed stack, is a different page again. Those two answer what is cheap to start. This one prices the stay: the intro, the prepay required to get that intro, and the renewal if it lands inside 12 or 24 months. The hub is Best Web Hosting 2026.

Quick verdict: Hostinger Premium is the best value across that window (editorial 4.5). The published intro is 48 months, so the $10.99 renewal never arrives inside 24 months. Twenty-four months of the rate is $71.76. The cart charges the whole term: $143.52. Bluehost Starter also stays on its logged intro through month 24, at a higher rate (editorial 4.0), and it is the cPanel path. SiteGround StartUp matches the $2.99 tile for 12 months and then renews. A 24-month stay is $251.76. This page does not score SiteGround. Commission does not set that order. Hostinger’s button opens the public pricing page. There is no Hostinger commission link on this site.

Quick picks

The large figure is 24 months of hosting at the published rate. It is not the amount the cart charges today. The note under each card is the prepay that unlocks the intro. Last verified: September 25, 2026.

The 12–24 month bill

Last verified: September 25, 2026. Hostinger numbers are from the public pricing page that day. The Premium tile said 48 months for $143.52, renewing at $10.99/mo. SiteGround numbers are from the public web hosting page that day. On September 24, 2026 those tiles said tax excluded. The September 25, 2026 capture showed the same dollar amounts and did not repeat a VAT line, so recheck the cart for tax. Bluehost numbers are the August 28, 2026 shared-hosting stamp. The Bluehost page returned a bot challenge on September 25, 2026, so those cells are approximate. No promo codes. These totals are list price times the published term. They are not a coupon.

Trying a host for one prepaid year

Hostinger’s pricing page says plans are paid up front and that the monthly figure is the total divided by the term. The tiles loaded on September 25, 2026 were the 48-month term. A shorter Hostinger term is a different monthly rate. This table does not guess it. Bluehost’s logged sticker is a 36-month term. SiteGround’s is 12 months, then renewal. Last verified: September 25, 2026.

How we priced a 12–24 month stay

Affordable, on this page, means the published cost of still being hosted at month 12 and month 24. The lowest intro tile is the job of the lowest intro sticker that still works. Support channels and the speed stack the vendor publishes are the job of reliable cheap hosting. Research here is from public plan pages. This page has no GTmetrix export, no private uptime log, and no timed support test.

The arithmetic is the intro rate for every month the published term still covers, then the published renewal. Hostinger Premium’s term is 48 months, so both checkpoints stay on $2.99. The logged Bluehost Starter term is 36 months, so both checkpoints stay on $3.99. SiteGround StartUp’s term is 12 months, so month 13 switches to $17.99. That is why a matching $2.99 tile is not the same two-year buy.

Hostinger stays first because $71.76 for 24 months of Premium, inside a $143.52 prepay that also covers two more years, beats the logged Bluehost 24-month figure and beats SiteGround’s $251.76 two-year total. The score is the same 4.5 as the Hostinger review and Bluehost vs Hostinger. Bluehost’s logged renewal of $9.99/mo is a dollar under Hostinger’s $10.99/mo, and it starts at month 36. That is outside this window, so it does not take the affordable spot. SiteGround’s live hop does not buy a score.

1. Hostinger — best value if you keep the site

Hostinger Premium is the default on a 12–24 month horizon. Checked September 25, 2026, the public pricing page showed $2.99/mo on a 48-month term: $143.52 paid up front, then $10.99/mo. The same tile is three websites, 20 GB SSD, weekly backups, a free domain for one year, and priority 24/7 expert support. It does not list a phone line. Twelve months of that rate is $35.88. Twenty-four months is $71.76. The renewal is not in either number.

The checkout number is $143.52, not $71.76. Hostinger says the plan is paid up front. They also publish a 30-day money-back guarantee. We did not test what a cancellation in month 13 returns. Treat the prepay as money committed unless the cart says otherwise. If you will use the full 48 months, the rate you saw is the rate you pay until then. If you might shut the site down at month 12 and you cannot float $143.52, this is the wrong first click. That one-year exit is the SiteGround section below, and the sticker-only cut is cheapest web hosting.

Unlimited is the step up that still avoids a renewal inside 24 months: $3.99/mo, $191.52 for 48 months, renewing at $16.99/mo. Twenty-four months of the Unlimited rate is $95.76, with 50 GB NVMe and daily backups. Buy it when weekly backups on Premium are too thin. Cloud Startup is $7.99/mo, $383.52 up front. That is a larger box, not the affordable shared plan.

Cons. The $2.99 figure only exists on the long prepay we loaded. We are not publishing a 12-month or 24-month Hostinger rate we did not see. The free domain and the free mailboxes on the tile are for a year. Year two of the domain is a separate bill, and this page does not invent that price. Premium storage is SSD, the site cap is three, and backups are weekly. There is no phone line. A contractor who will only work in cPanel should not start here. The product write-up is Hostinger Review 2026.

2. Bluehost — cPanel, not the lower 24-month rate

Bluehost is second because the logged Starter intro also covers this window, and because the panel is cPanel. On the August 28, 2026 public shared-hosting stamp, Starter is $3.99/mo for 36 months, renewing at $9.99/mo: 10 websites, 10 GB NVMe, weekly backups, chat support. Twenty-four months of that intro is $95.76, which is $24.00 more than Hostinger Premium. The prepay on the same stamp is $143.64 for 36 months, almost the same cash as Hostinger’s $143.52 and 12 fewer months of intro-rate hosting. On September 25, 2026 the live Bluehost page returned a bot challenge, so treat every Bluehost dollar here as approximate until you open the cart.

The $9.99 renewal is the lowest renewal in this set, and it does not help a buyer whose horizon is 24 months. It starts after month 36. Phone support is the other reason people type Bluehost, and it is not on Starter. Business is $6.99/mo intro on the same approximate stamp, $251.64 for 36 months, renewing at $13.99/mo. Twenty-four months of the Business intro is $167.76. That is the phone plan. It is not the affordable winner. A shop that needs the phone should read best web hosting for small business.

Cons. Editorial score 4.0, matching Bluehost vs Hostinger, because the 24-month math does not beat Premium and the cheap tile is a familiar cPanel installer. Starter is 10 GB on the logged row. The intro is a 36-month prepay. We could not re-read the plan grid on September 25, 2026. We are not inventing a Bluehost refund window from a page that did not load.

3. SiteGround — affordable for 12 months, not for 24

SiteGround is on this list because the $2.99 tile looks like Hostinger and the second year does not. On the web hosting page checked September 25, 2026, StartUp is $2.99/mo prepaid for 12 months ($35.88), renewing at $17.99/mo. The tile is one website, 10 GB of Premium Google storage, and daily backups. Staging is not in the StartUp feature list. It is listed on GrowBig. They publish a 30-day money-back guarantee. We did not test it.

Stay 12 months and leave, and StartUp is the smallest prepay in this comparison: $35.88, against $143.52 to unlock Hostinger’s rate. Stay through month 24 and the bill is $35.88 plus $215.88, which is $251.76. That two-year total is $108.24 more than Hostinger Premium’s entire 48-month prepay. GrowBig is $4.99/mo for 12 months ($59.88), renewing at $29.99/mo. A 24-month GrowBig stay is $419.76. That is the tooling plan, with staging and on-demand backups on the tile. It is a worse answer to this page’s question.

Cons. This page does not give SiteGround an editorial score. The intro lasts 12 months. One site and no staging on StartUp is a hard stop if you need a second install or a safe copy. A live affiliate hop does not move this host above Hostinger. If the decision is WordPress staging rather than the two-year bill, use best WordPress hosting.

What the 12–24 month total leaves out

Checkout is the prepay, not the 24-month slice

$71.76, $95.76, and $251.76 are not three buttons you can press. Hostinger collects $143.52 because the cheap rate is a 48-month plan. The logged Bluehost term collects $143.64 over 36 months. SiteGround collects $35.88 and then, if you are still there, $17.99/mo. Put the renewal date on a calendar before you compare stickers. A host that wins month one and loses month 13 does not win a two-year budget.

Term length is part of the price. $2.99/mo on Hostinger Premium is $143.52 divided by 48. It is not a month-to-month bill. If cash this week matters more than the two-year rate, the 12-month SiteGround prepay is the smaller check, and you should assume you will leave before $17.99/mo. Check Hostinger pricing shows the current term lengths. We are not filling in a 12-month Hostinger price the public tile did not show.

Year two is more than the hosting renewal

Hostinger’s free domain and the free mailboxes on the Premium tile are for one year. The second year of the domain is another invoice. This page does not invent that registrar price. Add-ons checked by default in the cart are extra. Uncheck what you do not need. Weekly backups on Hostinger Premium mean six days of edits can vanish. Daily backups are Unlimited on the same vendor, or SiteGround StartUp, and both change the bill above.

A renewal after month 36 is a different article

Bluehost’s logged Starter renewal undercuts Hostinger Premium by a dollar, and only after the 36-month term. Someone keeping a site for four or five years should rerun the math at renewal time, on the cart, not from this table. Inside 24 months the dollar does not move the rank. The head-to-head write-up is Bluehost vs Hostinger.

Who should skip which host

  • Skip Hostinger if you cannot prepay $143.52, if your contractor will only work in cPanel, or if you want a phone agent. Skip Premium if weekly backups are too thin. Unlimited is the daily-backup step, at $191.52 up front.
  • Skip Bluehost Starter if you came for the lower 24-month rate. $95.76 does not beat $71.76. Skip Starter if you came for phone support. Budget Business, and remember the dollar figures are approximate until the cart loads.
  • Skip SiteGround if you already know the site will still be up in month 13. StartUp’s 24-month stay is $251.76. Skip StartUp on its own if you need staging or a second site. GrowBig is the tooling tile, and a 24-month stay there is $419.76.
  • Skip all three for a regulated workload this site does not advise on. These shared plans are a brochure site, a local lead page, or a small catalog.
